Citrus demand has been rising during the pandemic, as consumers look for fruits and vegetables that have health benefits that protect against illness, such as Vitamin C.

The following graphic was produced by Agtools Inc. BB #:355102, showing that this higher demand has been met with lower volume from the U.S.’s largest fresh citrus producing state, California. Florida’s volume is also down in 2021.

One might expect average prices to be higher due to this lower volume and stronger demand, but FOB prices have been generally lower in 2021 than 2020.
