Peruvian mangos, blueberries to enter 6 new markets each

Peruvian agro-exports are seeking new markets due to the rising cost of sea freight to China and the difficulties in entering Eastern European markets due to war in Ukraine, the Association of Agricultural Producers Guilds of Peru (AGAP) told Agraria.
With the support of the National Agricultural Health Service of Peru (Senasa), they are carrying out the adaptation processes that allow overcoming phytosanitary access barriers to other countries, seeking to enter different countries and regions for several star products of the agricultural sector.
Mangos
Among the product with the most opportunities, mangos stand out, which is in the process of phytosanitary adaptation for its entry into Argentina, Iran, Malaysia, Morocco, South Africa, and Taiwan.
Currently, the Netherlands, the U.S., South Korea, Spain, the UK, and Russia are its largest markets.
According to the latest Fresh Fruit Report, the 2021-2022 mango campaign, although improving, is still below pre-pandemic levels.
Blueberries
According to AGAP, another product that aims to enter more markets is the blueberry, which is in the process of being adapted to export to South Africa, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
After 2021 they managed to enter Malaysia and India.
In addition, the fruit is one step away from entering the Israeli market for the first time, with estimates to enter after the current campaign ends in May.
Currently, one of the largest destinations is the Netherlands, from where it is distributed to the rest of Europe.
Other products
In the case of the Hass avocado, it is in the process of being admitted to Malaysia, the Philippines, and Colombia.
Together with the aforementioned products, the access of grapes, asparagus, citrus, ginger, and pitahaya is also being worked on, to a total of 18 new destinations, which are expected to be accessed soon.
