Argentina estimates that its fresh lemon exports to the United States could triple in two years to 30,000 tons in 2020, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service.

Lemon exports from Argentina to the U.S. were 10,640 in 2018 and 23,179 tons from January to October 2019.

Overall, Argentina foresees its total lemon exports to increase to 300,000 tons, in contrast to decreasing exports of oranges (70,000 tons) and mandarins (35,000 tons). According to the most recent 2019/20 campaign data, Argentina’s production expectations are 1.6 million tons of lemons, 720,000 tons of oranges, and 390,000 tons of mandarins.

Argentina was granted U.S. market access in August 2017.
