Most of the time you don’t want to know what’s in a hot dog. Just think of the classic movie The Great Outdoors for the answer.

This time, the Bolthouse Farms Carrot Dog is just that. A carrot.

I don’t know why I was so surprised to find that a carrot can actually make a reasonable swap for what is arguably one of the worst things people can eat, but I was.

It really is just a carrot, or as my 6-year-old says “it tastes like a carrot with ketchup and mustard.”

The kids weren’t as easily convinced as I was.
