Chilean fresh fruit exports grow in value and volume this season

So far in the 2024-25 season, Chilean fruit exports total $2.638 billion FOB, 26.5 percent more than the previous campaign, according to Redagricola, citing the latest fruit bulletin from the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies, Odepa.

The report says 67.7 percent of what has been exported to date corresponds to shipments of fresh fruit, which reached $1.784 billion FOB. The numbers represent 40.7 percent over the value exported last campaign on the same date, an increase of $516 million, while the growth in volume shipped is 49 percent.

Fresh fruit exports in the first four months of the 2024-25 season have cherries at the top, with more than $1 billion FOB.

Cherry shipments showed a 75 percent growth in value and a 158.7 percent increase in exported volume compared to the same period of the previous season, with its main destination being China, which receives 89 percent of the volume and 90 percent of the exported value.

The U.S. is also among the cherry export destinations.

According to the report, the volume exported to China was almost three times that exported in the previous season, which has caused a drop in the price received this season without considering the VAT yet.
