“We expect the foodservice market to continue to make significant strides in 2022,” he said. “Pittsburgh and the surrounding markets are dynamic and vibrant and will be primary participants in this growth.”

FreshEdge made several acquisitions in 2021, including Valley Produce of Tennessee and Vine Line of Michigan.

Corsaro said FreshEdge is always looking to add companies that are considered “best in class,” as Monteverde’s is.

“The addition of Monteverde’s will enhance and expand FreshEdge’s ability to provide customized fresh food solutions and exceptional experiences driving success for our customers,” he said.

“It’s always a good time to join forces with a great company. We are always looking to expand our family, and it happens to be the right time for Monteverde’s to join our journey.”

Monteverde’s joins a growing alliance that includes Piazza Produce & Specialty Foods, Indianapolis Fruit, Get Fresh Produce, McCartney Produce, Leonardo’s Produce, Valley Produce, Vine Line, Garden Cut, CIBUS Fresh and Papania’s.

FreshEdge is backed by private equity firm Rotunda Capital Partners.
