With the cultivation of asparagus in Peru and Mexico, this once very seasonal commodity is now available year-round.

Shani Nir, director of marketing for Ayco Farms, Inc. BB #:168111 of Pompano Beach, FL, an importer of green, white, and organic asparagus from Peru and Mexico, explains: “In May 2020 we were the first packer to introduce a breathable, stand-up gusset and zip closure bag with full color graphics for asparagus. The goals were to increase shelf life and create a more consumer-friendly bag with a resealable closure.”

Nir says it took months “to find just the right material to maximize shelf life and create the perfect bag.” Bags come in multiple custom packs and offer a full-color design, large window for viewing product, nutritional facts, a QR code for recipes, a “Got Asparagus?” tagline, and a handle.

“Now with our machinery up and running,” Nir says, “we can provide private label packaging and custom packs. We’re vertically integrated with our packing house, warehouse, coolers, and now custom packaging, all with the services of a committed marketing team to create an individualized program for customers.”
