Recently, China published its official 2020 grape export results having reached $1.213 billion, 23 percent more than the previous year, making it the second year in a row that China is the world’s largest supplier of grapes.
While at the same time, this confirms Peru’s move into second place, for the first time, with $991 million, 22 percent more than the previous year, as reported by Agraria.
Good international reception of Peruvian grapes allowed it to displace Chile ($925 million) and the U.S. ($822 million), who ranked second and third, respectively, the previous year.
Peru sent grapes to over 50 destinations, with the most important markets as the U.S. and the Netherlands, with shares of 45 percent and 14 percent of exports, respectively.
In the U.S., Peru positioned itself as the second most important supplier with a 32 percent share, after Chile, who obtained a 38 percent share.
In the Netherlands, Peru ranked second with a 16 percent share, after South Africa, which had a 35 percent share.
