Despite the pandemic, in 2020 Peruvian agricultural exports continued to grow, reaching $7.47 billion compared to $7.09 billion in 2019.
The president of the consulting firm Inform@ccion, Fernando Cilloniz Benavides, told Agraria that of the top 10 destination markets for agricultural products from Peru, only Germany registered a decrease in shipments.
He explained that the main destination was the U.S. with shipments with $2.59 billion in shipments vs. $2.41 billion in 2019, registering a 7.5 percent increase, followed by the Netherlands with $1.11 billion (vs. $1.04 billion in 2019).
These were followed by Spain, the UK, Germany, China, Canada, Colombia, Hong Kong, and Belgium, among others.
The main destination for grape shipments was the U.S. with 195 million kilos, followed by the Netherlands, Hong Kong, the UK, Mexico, and China.
Blueberries were mainly shipped to the U.S. with 85.5 million kilos, followed by the Netherlands, China, the UK and Hong Kong.
While avocados were mainly shipped to the Netherlands with 137 million kilos, followed by the U.S., Spain, Chile, and the UK.
