With three months before the end of the 2021/2022 Peruvian blueberry campaign, which runs from May to April, 215,356 tons have been exported for $1.277 billion, reflecting an increase in volume of 30 percent and value of 26 percent when compared to the previous season.

As reported by Agraria, 98 percent of total blueberry shipments have been exported between May and January in the last five years, with the remainder of the campaign being marginal.

Peruvian officials project that at the end of the 2021/2022 campaign, 220,076 tons of fresh blueberries for $1.306 billion will be exported, thus maintaining the current growth rates.

The main destinations are the U.S. and the Netherlands, which accounted for 78 percent of Peruvian shipments. Meanwhile, China and Spain were the destinations with the highest prices obtained.

According to estimates, Peruvian blueberry exports to the U.S. will reach 118,533 tons for $470 million at the end of the campaign. This will reflect a growth of 33 percent in volume and 28 percent in value when compared to the previous campaign.
