Shipments of fresh Peruvian blueberries to the U.S. exceeded $772 million from January to September 2022, a 30.2 percent increase (representing of 53.1 percent of shipments) when compared to the same period last year, according to the Agro-export Management of the Association of Exporters (ADEX).

In second place is the Netherlands with $157 million reflecting an increase of 34.8 percent and a representation of 20.3 percent. It was followed by China with $87 million, reflecting an increase of 138.4 percent and a representation of 11.2 percent.
Last year Peru positioned itself as the world’s leading supplier of blueberries, accumulating around $1.22 billion. Fresh blueberries were the greatest demand representing 97.1 percent of the total, while frozen was 2.8 percent, juice .02 percent, and dehydrated .004 percent.
From 2017 to 2021, Peruvian blueberry exports increased by an annual average of 43.7 percent.
In 2021, North America became the most important continent in demand for blueberries originating in Peru (54.2 percent), followed by Europe, Asia, South America, and Oceania.
