A Global Appeal
According to Richard Ruiz, president of Ruiz Sales in Edinburg, the growth and expansion across the South Texas region has not only increased residents’ purchasing power, but these shoppers are also transforming The Valley from a relatively sleepy place to a power player.

“The Valley is one of the major places that has yet to be tapped by the international market, but all of this is rapidly changing,” Ruiz comments. “We’re experiencing [the kind of] growth that makes The Valley a much more competitive place to operate from and do business. It’s a market that more and more people are trying to get into.”

Business is also brisk for Yasmani Garcia at Sweet Seasons, LLC in Hidalgo. The geographic advantage means potential customers on the East Coast often seek out partner companies based in The Valley to source from growers in Mexico, without dealing with international regulations and currency issues themselves.
