U.S. apple exports to Peru rise in Q1
From January to March of this year, Peru imported 7,044,988 kilos of apples for a CIF value of $8,753,522, reflecting an increase compared to the 6,452,410 kilos imported...

From January to March of this year, Peru imported 7,044,988 kilos of apples for a CIF value of $8,753,522, reflecting an increase compared to the 6,452,410 kilos imported in the same period of 2023 for $7,273,120, according to Agraria, using information from Agrodata.

The main supplier of this product in the first quarter of 2024 was the U.S., which achieved placements of $4,699,000. Next is Chile with $3,898,000, Argentina with $129,000, and Portugal with $27,000.
In April of this year, Senasa suspended the importation of apples (as well as stone fruit) from Chile due to the risk of entry of the Grapholita pest that affects these fruits.
Throughout 2023, Peru imported a total of 42,372,922 kilos of apples for $44,473,229.
